Rape cases in the United States are considered to be the most under-reported crime in the country. The reasons for this will vary, though such cases are regarded to be a crime in all jurisdictions in the country. In a rape case, in order for the law to be able to take proper action, the case must be properly reported to law enforcement agencies. However, because of the psychological damage that can occur as a result of rape cases, many will find it hard to disclose such an occurrence. Upon the reporting of rape cases, there will be an investigation to follow. Most rape cases and crimes are usually committed by people that the victim knows or associates with, and therefore, such people are the first questioned in an investigation. The rape case victim will also be interrogated, which can prove to be a difficult task for both the victim and the law enforcement agency. Rape cases will use biological evidence to help identify that a rape has taken place and possibly who the offender may be. If a suspect can be determined, he/she will be tried in the court of law.
